Iain Mason

Head of Legal

Iain is our Head of Legal, overseeing Optimum’s busy legal department, which covers conveyancing, wills and probate.

During his career, Iain has worked with a range of clients across the South West and the UK, from large corporates to individuals and renewable energy providers. He was also part of the legal team working with the Homes and Communities Agency, helping with the regeneration of Swindon’s town centre.

His favourite pastime is skiing (he says it’s the adrenaline rush he loves). He admits he once entered another country without permission – but that’s all he will divulge!

Tracey Heath

Practice Director

Tracey is Optimum’s Practice Director, who deals with everything from managing our client database to making sure we don’t run out of tea and coffee.

She has worked for most of her career in secretarial and admin roles, although briefly ran a pub with her partner but (in her words) “saw sense” and returned to office work.

In her spare time, she enjoys socialising, cycling, going to the gym (she’s run Swindon Half Marathon more than once) and has recently taken up tap-dancing.

Conveyancing Executive

Karen is our Conveyancing Executive, dealing with house sales, house purchases, re-mortgages and transfer of equity on behalf of her clients.

She has worked in the legal profession for more than 34 years, beginning as an office junior in a solicitors’ office when she left school.

Away from the office, Karen enjoys weekends away with her partner in their campervan going to shows and festivals – time for Karen to chill, relax, get some fresh air and enjoy a nice G&T or two!

Tara Screen

Chartered Legal Executive

For her role at Optimum, Tara specialises in freehold and leasehold sale and purchase, transfers, re-mortgages, shared ownership and Help to Buy transactions.

Tara has worked in the legal profession for more than 20 years, and successfully completed her Ilex legal qualification while working full-time and running a home.

Tara’s hobbies include reading, walking, listening to music and baking (and eating!) cake. Her claim to fame is sitting a few seats away from Queen’s Brian May during a theatre trip.

Legal Assistant

Julie supports our legal team with their conveyancing work, helping clients buy and sell homes.

Her career has been spent working in an office environment, in the banking and finance sector, in admin roles.

In her spare time, Julie loves spending time with her grandson, family and friends, eating out, reading and going to the theatre.

Something you didn’t know about Julie: she was once a magician's assistant at a large corporate event, where she was levitated and made to disappear!

Sue Hobbs

Legal Secretary

Sue’s role as Legal Secretary involves supporting our legal team with their very busy workload.

Her career in law started after leaving school, when she became an office junior at a solicitors’ firm and she has worked as a PA/legal secretary ever since.

Her hobbies include socialising with friends, reading and watching ice hockey (especially when her son is playing).

Something you didn’t know about Sue: she can twist her tongue!

Clair Stenning

Office Manager

Clair is our super-efficient office manager, who helps run a tight ship for the Optimum team. Her career spans administration and office management, and she also has a background in quality management, ISO certification and compliance.

In her spare time, Clair teaches and coaches swimming, and sometimes gets in the water herself! She also enjoys crafting and gardening, but says the results of both can be a little hit and miss.

Tracey Cacchio

Receptionist

Tracey’s role is to offer a warm welcome to visitors to our Swindon office, and answering and directing incoming calls.

Much of Tracey’s career has been in customer service, but her last two roles have been as a receptionist, which she thoroughly enjoys because she likes meeting new people.

In her spare time, Tracey likes nothing more than spending time with the family, eating out and taking holidays.

Tracey’s motto: life is a party to be had!

Debbie Carter

Receptionist

Debbie is one of our two receptionists, giving visitors to our Swindon office a warm welcome, as well as answering and directing incoming calls.

Debbie has a 30 year career as a secretary/PA in the oil and gas industry, but prior to joining Optimum worked in a family-run farm shop, which involved lots of chatting to customers!

In her spare time, Debbie loves gardening, which she finds very relaxing and rewarding (if the pests don’t ruin her hard work). She also enjoys cooking and socialising with friends.
