An intrepid sextet from among the great team we have here at Optimum are hoping for a perfect ten when they step out for a fundraising challenge in aid of our charity of the year.
Our six colleagues will be taking part in the 10 Peaks Challenge, set by the Youth Adventure Trust, which involves hiking 34km and scaling ten different peaks within ten hours.
Training is well underway for the event, which takes place on July 10 in the Brecon Beacons and is just one of the fundraising initiatives we will be holding throughout the year to support the Wiltshire-based charity.
“It’s going to be a challenging day, with what we suspect will be less than ideal weather conditions (it’s in Wales after all!) and a huge 34km to hike, with an epic 1,695m of ascent!” said Tracey Heath, our Office Manager and one of the team taking part. “But we are training hard and it is all for a very good cause.”
Joining Tracey are Carol Conway, Hannah Matthews, Rob Stokes and Tracey Alexander. The sixth team member – Payroll Manager Liz Grange – is a keen runner and is hoping to cover some of the course at a quicker pace!
Rob, Head of Accounts & Audit at Optimum, added: “It’s definitely going to be easier for some of us than for others, but it’s all about teamwork, encouraging one another, keeping that fundraising goal in our minds but also enjoying the experience and challenge.”
The Youth Adventure Trust helps vulnerable 11 to 15-year-olds build resilience to face challenges in their lives. Its outdoor adventure-based Youth Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, grow in confidence and develop skills that will last a lifetime.
Philippa Cox, Corporate Partnerships Manager at YAT, said: “A huge thank you to the Optimum staff for taking on the epic 10 peaks in 10 hours challenge. Every step they take of the 34km route will help vulnerable young people build resilience, confidence and fulfil their full potential. We’ll be cheering them on along the way. Good luck Team Optimum!”
We would love you to help us reach our £1,500 goal. If you’d like to sponsor us, you can do so via our fundraising page – thank you.
