SEISS Instalment 2

by Rob Stokes

Published on 9th June 2020

Following successful implementation of the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme to help the self-employed individuals or members of a partnership who have been adversely affected by Coronavirus, the scheme has been extended, alongside the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

Applications for the second and final tranche of grants under SEISS (the self-employment income support scheme) will open in August and will once again cover three months.

At the same time, the closing date for the first round is 13th July, so if you are self-employed or a member of a partnership, and have yet to apply, then please do so. Further details on the exact timings for the second round will be released on June 12th.

Qualifying criteria are the same as for the first round – you can find more details in this HMRC Factsheet. A fresh claim needs to be made for SEISS 2 as the claim for the first SEISS will not be rolled over.

Claimants also need to confirm their business has been adversely affected by COVID-19, which broadly covers those who:

  • Either cannot work because they are shielding, self-isolating, on sick leave due to Coronavirus or have caring responsibilities, or
  • Have had to scale down or stop trading because:
    • Supply chain has been interrupted
    • There are fewer or no customers/clients
    • Staff have been unable to work.

We are very happy to offer further advice and guidance on eligibility and with the application process. Please get in touch.
