Sole trader versus limited company: what’s best for your new business?

New VAT penalty regime

HMRC has brought in a new regime of VAT penalties, for late returns and late payment, for VAT periods starting on or after 1 January 2023. It has also introduced a new approach to charging interest on late-paid VAT. You can find all the details here.
